ABOUT ME
My name is Mitch McGuire and I am an art teacher for the Alexandria Area School District #206 in Minnesota; dontcha know! I teach elementary art in the morning and then commute to our high school teaching digital photography and video production.
I received my B.A. at the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2010--majoring in Visual Arts and Education with a minor in American Sign Language. I'm in my 6th year teaching and my 5th district, uffda.
Last summer I started a graduate program in Art Education with the University of Florida. This is my first return to the classroom as a student since 2010; I'm ready to get back to learning!
For fun I coach volleyball. I have been coaching for 10+ years, and just earned my first head coaching position at Osakis High School. In 2018, I received the Minnesota 8AAA volleyball assistant coach of the year award. I also enjoy playing recreational adult volleyball in my spare time.
My favorite pop is Mountain Dew.
My favorite food is Hot Dish.
My favorite color is orange.

MY STORY
Mitch McGuire
I believe in channeling my creative urges in order to produce unique artwork in Alexandria, Minnesota. My inspiration for my work is the movement of life. My art is born out of a combination of my education, training and experience, which allows my perspective as an artist to remain traditional yet contemporary. Art is how I battle against the indifference of humans and offer new ways of viewing the world.

"Works of art make rules; rules do not make works of art"
Claude Debussy
